NPP UK Dismisses Report

The United Kingdom (UK) branch of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied reports that the party’s national executives and  officials stayed at a GH¢1,800 per night  hotel in the UK.

According to the NPP UK, the party’s national executives, led by its National Organizer and Acting National General Secretary, John Boadu never spent such an amount of money on accommodation during their recent visit to the UK as reported by some so-called pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) news outlets.

NPP UK, in a rejoinder signed by its Communications Director, Nana Yaw Sarpong, urged NPP members, sympathisers and well-meaning Ghanaians to disregard contrived NDC propaganda and falsehoods and to stay focused, rally round and support the national executives and the NPP National Campaign Team, to deliver victory for the NPP and the presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the upcoming general elections.”

The rejoinder, copied to DAILY GUIDE explained that “the publication is not only false and disgraceful but goes to expose the shallow mindset of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not only in Ghana, but quite regrettably also here in the UK.”

President John Mahama recently made headlines after the Auditor-General’s (AG’s) report to Parliament revealed that the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria South Africa spent a whopping $28,000 of the taxpayers’ money on Mr. Mahama and his family in 2011 when he was the vice president.

It indicated “it appears that the NDC members prioritise spending every minute and second of their time churning out lies and propaganda instead of solving the dire economic hardship facing Ghanaians caused by their chronic mismanagement.”

“For the record, and for the avoidance of doubt, the visiting NPP National Executives were here in London at the invitation of the UK Conservative Party’s International Office as part of a one-week training and development programme.”

“Their flights, hotel, food and local travel costs and expenses were wholly borne by the ruling UK Conservative Party office. Needless to say, the NPP National Party executives did not spend a penny and did not use any party funds for this trip.”

Training Useful

“Their trip has proved to be a very useful training exercise and has really benefitted the national executives, who will deploy what they have learnt to the grassroots towards the NPP’s forward march to win the general elections on November 7 2016.”

“The obvious strategic benefit of this trip has no doubt caused fear and panic within the NDC, whose leaders and executives are repeat offenders  in using state funds for holidays and other frivolities, as captured in the 2016 Auditors General’s Report, where over $28,000 was blown by President John Mahama and his family members holidaying in South Africa.”

Focus On Fighting Drug Trade

According to NPP UK, instead of unnecessarily wasting time on cheap propaganda, “the President and the NDC ought to be more concerned with issues like the drug baron, Nayele Ametefe, aka, Ruby Gyamfi, who is an example of NDC cronies enjoying unmerited state VVIP privileges and support in order to smuggle over £1 million worth of cocaine into the UK for the benefit of the NDC.”

“Also, sanctuary and comfort has been granted to Al-Qaeda terrorists and ex-detainees from Guatanamo Bay thereby potentially putting peaceful Ghanaians at risk of terrorist attacks. Bizarrely, this deal was brokered on the blind side of Parliament, opposition party leaders and Ghanaians.

“These are the sort of issues Ghanaians are interested in but the NDC tries to keep off the headlines by concocting vile stories against the NPP.”
