Professional Ethics Lecturer at the Methodist University College, Dr Owusu Bonsu has described the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama as political-based rather than administrative seeking only after his interest in winning the next elections.

According to him, throughout the comments made by President Mahama in his previous visits to parts of the country and the present ‘Accounting to the People’ tour, the President has shown that his interest is in winning elections rather than solving the economic hardships of Ghanaians.

“President Mahama’s interest is in winning the next election rather than doing something to relieve Ghanaians. When you listen to his talks every time, he is saying Ghanaians should give him 4 years more because he is doing something for them”

“He didn’t start saying this today; it started during the Dumsor era that the opposition NPP will have nothing to say as a campaign message when the Dumsor is fixed. He again said when the Eastern Corridor road is done, it will silence the opposition. Is he doing these things to cause a relieve for Ghanaians or he is just doing them in order for Ghanaians to vote for him again?”, he quizzed.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Dr Owusu Bonsu insisted President Mahama as an administrator should know he was voted into office to construct roads and put up schools and thus Ghanaians will look at the things he has done to decide his fate in the next elections.

“He is not the one to tell us we should vote for him again because he has built schools, hospitals and constructed roads”, he stressed.

Hinting on the wrongdoings of President Mahama, Dr Bonsu chided that the President is not doing what the Constitution expects of him but rather doing the things which will help him win elections.

To him, it was wrong for President Mahama to spend money to train another set of youths for community nursing whereas the funds could have been channeled into the employment of three (3) barges of professionally trained nurses currently staying at home without jobs.

He further reiterated that if it is not for political gains, it is administratively wrong for President Mahama to spend money to train other youth for youth employment service in sanitation while graduates of School of Hygiene remain at home due to lack of money to employ them.

“If the President has enough financial resources to train other youth, what stops him from using some of the money to employ the unemployed trained nurses and the graduates of School of Hygiene? Our targets are not set right. Payment of GETFund and NHIS Levy are not going; areas where the President is mandated by Constitution to pay money, he is not doing it but his focus is on how to win the election”, he jabbed.
