My Life Is In Danger - Manso Amenfi Assembly Man

Residents of Amenfi Central District in the Western region have sounded an alarm bell, warning that the life of the Assemblyman at Manso Amenfi Electoral Area, Hon. Emmanuel Alex Nti, is in danger.

They alleged that two heavily built men attacked and attempted to assassinate Mr. Nti on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.

According to the residents, Hon. Nti has been placed on the radar of assassins by two macho-men by name Bright Kweku and the other whose name was given only as Control, for which reason they are calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to immediately deploy security personnel to protect the Assemblyman.

The heart-breaking incident, the residents told Today has built-up tension in Manso Amefi, a farming community in Amenfi Central District.

However, they said the police from Amenfi Central District have managed to arrest Bright Kweku, whiles Control, who hails from Sefwi Bekwai, is at large.

Earlier in an interview with Today yesterday, Hon. Nti confirmed that he was attacked by two strong-men.

The worried Assemblyman raised concerns with regard to one of the suspects, Bright Kweku, who was remanded in Amenfi Police Station, but was given bail, a situation he could not understand considering the magnitude of the case.

He added: “I nearly lost my life at the hands of these two (2) men on my way to the general Assembly meeting but God being so good I was saved,” he told Today.

According to Hon. Nti, during the attack on his life, his assassins gave him two options that “either I resign as Assembly man or refrain from speaking against a politician in the area they refused to mention his name.”

“I was nearly killed by the two men on that fateful day but because I was lucky, they did not kill me instantly but they promised that the next time they come they will stand somewhere and kill me without anybody knowing,” he said.

He said the suspect, Bright Kweku, was interrogated by the CID officer at Manso Amenfi Police Station, Mr. Koduah, after he was formally handed over to the District Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Amenfi Central and West District Police Command, Mr. Owusu Bempah, for further questioning.

But, according to him, Bright Kweku was later given bail because Mr. Owusu Bempah told him that the suspect had no bad intentions of taking his life; instead it was the one who was on the run.

Hon. Nti expressed disquiet about the outcome of the interrogations by the CID in getting to the bottom of the case.
