Ningo Prampram Chiefs To Boycott Sam George

National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ningo Prampram has incurred the wrath of the chiefs in the town after subjecting one of them to public ridicule.

Samuel George Nartey is said to have branded the Mankralo of the Ningo Traditional Area Nene Kanor Atiapah III as “lawless” for urging his people to reject prepaid meters by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the area.

The chief expressed dissatisfaction over the installation of prepaid meters stating that, it is a money making machine which in his opinion, will worsen the plight of the people in his traditional Area.

Nene Kanor Atiapah III added that, the people in Ningo Prampram are poor farmers and fishermen thus can hardly make ends meet so if ECG comes to install the prepaid meters, “my people won’t get money to credits to get electricity”.

His commenst did not go down well with the Sam George whom in his opinion, amount to lawlessness.

Speaking on Asempa FM, he also said the reference of Nene Kanor Atiapah III as a chief is incorrect because “is only a Mankralo not Mantse [chief]”. “Nene AtiapahIII is my biological uncle; he is only a Mankralo not Mantse. Chiefs are supposed to be development agents and what he has done is to encourage people to be lawless” he stated.

Sam George stated unequivocally that the view of the Ningo Prampram Mankralo is not a true representation of the people.

Based on this background, chiefs and elders of the Ningo Prampram Traditional Area have decided to summon Sam George before them to defend his comment.

Failure to appear before them, the Council will boycott any program organized by Sam George ahead of the November 7 general elections.
