The Spiritual Leader of Saviour Church of Ghana, Opanyin Ellias Asirifi Dadeako has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to be fair and firm in the discharge of its duties as the nation goes to the polls in November.

According to the revered Spiritual Leader, “when the arbiter is seen to be bias, there cannot be a fair game and it may result in violence so the EC must be fair, firm and independent minded as the 1992 Constitution stipulates so we can have a peaceful election”.

“This is a crucial election so the EC must be open to all manner of suggestions and sieve it to suit the aspirations of the country. The EC is not a repository of knowledge so I expect the Commission to take onboard other opinions and if possible seek advice from some of its retired officers so that it can run a very smooth election”, he opined. 

He therefore called on all religious leaders to pray for the nation and the EC. He further asked the religious leaders to also play their roles as representatives of God and be bold in pointing out wrongs in the society because “if there is no peace in Ghana, religious leaders cannot preach the word of God”.

“Religious leaders must pray for this nation and those who have chosen to dabble in politics must throw the light of truth in their various political parties instead of spewing false prophecies in order to enrich themselves”.

“It is a pity that some religious leaders are more interested in serving their political paymasters instead of looking after the flock of sheep God has given them to cater for. That is not how to serve God. The truth must always prevail wherever we are as religious leaders”, he admonished.

Speaking to The New Crusading GUIDE at Gomoa Nyanyano, near Kasoa over the weekend, Opanyin Dadeako also appealed to all political parties to be tolerant of each other since we have “only one Ghana”.

He however said there cannot be peace when there is no justice so State institutions must be seen to be interested in exacting justice.
