Danger Looms @ OdumanTwo Communities In Tug Of War Over Land

There is simmering tension at Oduman a suburb of Ablekuma in the Ga Central Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, where two clans from different communities are likely to lock horns in a fierce battle over some 93.29 acre land.

Information reaching this paper is that, elders of Oduman and Manhia are amassing arsenals against each other over the said land which has been released to Merchandy Estate, an estate developing company.

According to sources, the said parcel of land was released to the Estate Developer in 2002 by the elders of Oduman.

Meanwhile, the people of Manhia have launched attacks on the estates developer including elders of Oduman demolishing most of the building projects being undertaken by the company.

That development, this paper can say, has led to the emergence of land guards in the communities, who are brought into the two communities to ostensibly protect the land.

The emergence of these land guards has also become a source of worry and threat to the people living in the two communities, who have expressed great concern over the looming danger this pose to their lives.

However, speaking to the media in Accra over the weekend, chief of Oduman, Nii Moses Appleh, stressed that the people of Manhia are not the real owners of the said lands and that the land belongs to Oduman which released it to the estate developer for the construction of housing units in the area.

The Chief of Oduman, Nii Moses Appleh who is also unhappy about the undue attempts by the people of Manhia to take over the lands, is calling on the Ghana Police Service to intervene and ensure that peace prevails in the two communities.
