PNC Charged To Ensure Dr Mahama Wins 2016 Polls

The People’s National Convention (PNC), at its maiden National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Kumasi last Saturday, charged its rank and file to work hard to ensure that Dr Edward Mahama wins the 2016 presidential election.

In line with meeting this key objective, the party’s NEC also adopted some major decisions aimed at aiding the party in winning the 2016 election, which include the appointment of the communications director for the party and the flag bearer among others.

The PNC NEC includes all regional chairmen, elected national officers, all Members of Parliament, all founder members, and the chairmen of the committees established by the party.

Briefing the Daily Graphic after the day-long meeting in Kumasi, Mr Bernard Mornah said the NEC appointed Mr Emmanuel Wilson as the Communications Director of the party and Mr Samuel Debrah Adjei as the Campaign Manager, while the  position of Communications Director of the flag bearer  went to Mr Della Tingey.

Other committees, he said, included Manifestos, Constitution and legal, Political, Publicity, Welfare, Elections.

He disclosed to the Daily Graphic that though there were suggestions that the party should suspend Mr David Apasara and two other members  who dragged the PNC to court and lost, the leadership called for calm and urged the members to rather stretch a reconciliatory hand to them.

Dr Mahama

Addressing the party members, Dr Mahama charged them to position the party as the best alternative to the NDC and the NPP that had both exhibited to Ghanaians that they were bereft of ideas and incapable of fighting corruption.

He said Ghana deserved better than ‘dumsor’ and unemployment and just as  Dr Hilla Limann did a lot in just 24 months of his four-year mandate which was truncated, his administration would turn round the fortunes of the country for the benefit of all and not a few.

“You must go back to your constituency and let everyone know that this is the year for PNC. They have tried NDC and NPP; it is only the PNC they have not tried,” he added.

New slogan

Dr Mahama announced that the party’s slogan of “Two sure two direct” had given way to “Three sure, new way” and that would be the slogan of the new force on the Ghanaian political scene.

“Corruption which is killing Ghana would be a thing of the past under my administration. Unemployment will also be a thing of the past.”

He said just as he had been able to make his private clinic a paperless office where hard copy folders had been discarded for computerisation, he would ensure that government machinery work to perfection without waste and corruption.

Agenda

The PNC for the first time held its NEC meeting in the Garden City of Kumasi.

The move is geared towards ensuring that members of the party in the region have a feel of the party and are  exposed  to the inner workings of the second highest decision-making body of the PNC.
