Police Assure Public Of Effective Security

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Maxwell Atingane, has affirmed the preparedness of the police to provide effective security for the success of the upcoming voter registration exercise.

He said the Command had adequate logistics to control any incident that could disrupt the smooth progress of the exercise and would also not relent in their efforts to protect lives and properties.

DCOP Atingane gave the assurance at the annual get-together of the police, known as the West African Security Services Association (WASSA), in Sunyani.

The WASSA enables officers and personnel of the Police Service to socialise with stakeholders and the general public, and give account of the previous year’s achievements and also chart the way forward.

DCOP Atingane said the region was bedeviled with crimes including armed robbery, murder and cultivation of drugs but added that such crimes had been reduced drastically as a result of the collaborative efforts between the police and their stakeholders.

He entreated residents to continue to co-operate with the police in the fight against crimes to promote peace and progress in the region.

DCOP Atingane advised leaders, members and supporters of political parties to refrain from making sensational statements and unsubstantiated allegations against the police, adding that they were committed in treating all political parties fairly.
