According to him, tension in elections is not a problem as it is in every competition, but entrust Ghanaians to rather fear the possibility of voting for bad leaders to man the affairs of the country which will eventually become a serious burden on the country.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Rev Dr Opuni Frimpong averred it is time for Ghanaians to do away with the fear that bothers on who wins what position and the candidate to vote for as well as the unfounded fear that there will be a fight in the country.

He maintained that the fear of the country should rather be voting for the right leaders who will take over the country’s resources to develop and provide jobs as well as the economy in a good shape for opportunities to be created.

“We should fear that we may make the wrong choice in leaders who will not help us and also not perform their responsibilities as expected of them. This should be our focus; to choose the right leaders for the country and it should be something that we should fear and stop the usual fear that something bad will happen in this year’s election,” he cautioned.

He however asserted that the focus and fear of choosing wrong leaders will drive away any mind-set that some people normally harbor to steal ballot boxes and papers to favor particular candidates.

He therefore urged the media to shift their attention to issue-based discussions, bothering on the abilities of the candidates rather their personally traits which have no significance in the office they want to occupy.
