Nana Akomea, Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned former Transport Minister Dzifa Attivor’s remarks comment on a campaign platform in the Volta Region as "ill informed, tribalistic, ethnically divisive and totally unworthy of a former Minister of State."

Dzifa Attivor, who was speaking in her party’s stronghold, the Volta Region, called on the grassroots to reject the NPP because the opposition party prosecuted only members of her ethnic group, Ewes, during its 8-year hold on power.

Akufo-Addo, who began the prosecution of Dan Abodakpi and Victor Serlomey in 200,1 is now the presidential candidate of the NPP for the 2016 presidential elections.

Dzifa expressed fears that an NPP government would continue where it left off by jailing the Volta regional front liners in the NDC, including herself anf Fifi Kwetey.

But in a sharp riposte, Nana Akomea, in a statement issued on Wednesday slammed the former Transport Minister for the "nonsensical and corruption-driven" remarks and urged her to "apologise forthwith and cease making such embarrassing comments not only to herself but to Ghanaian democracy".

A disbelieving Nana Akomea wondered how a former Minister of State could fail to know that a "government may initiate criminal prosecution" but "it is only the Judiciary that can impose jail sentences".

He sought to know if the NDC could be accused of engaging in tribal agenda following the prosecutions former Ministers Asamoah Boateng and Osei Adjei (Fante and Ashanti ) and messrs Wireko Brobbey and Kwadwo Mpiani.

"The NPP government did ALSO initiate criminal prosecution against Konadu Rawlings and Kwame Peprah (Ashantis ), lbrahim Adams (Northerner) Shirley Ayittey (Ga), Sipa Yankey ( Nzema) etc and even prosecuted a member of the NPP government - Malam Issah ( Northerner).

So was the NPP government engaged in tribal agenda against all these other tribes/ethnic groups in which these others belong?

The NDC government (of which Dzifa Attivor was a member), prosecuted former Ministers Asamoah Boateng and Osei Adjei (Fante and Ashanti ) and messrs Wireko Brobbey and Kwadwo Mpiani etc. Was the government of the NDC engaged in tribal agenda with these prosecutions?" he quizzed.
