NPP Secretary Arrested

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency  Secretary for the Yapei Kusawgu Constituency in the Northern Region has been arrested and sent to the Mpaha Police Station in the Central Gonja district for allegedly distracting the ongoing limited registration exercise.

Amadu Zakaria is reported to have stopped people said to have been bused into the constituency to register in the ongoing registration exercise resulting in a clash between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their NPP counterparts.

The exercise was temporarily halted.

It was alleged that NPP members at the Kpabuso D/A Primary registration center became suspicious of a 207 bus-load of people brought to the center for registration and raised alarm.

Speaking to Daily Guide, Amadu Zakaria said the Deputy Energy Minister who is also the NDC parliamentary candidate for the area, John Jinapor organized the people who are not natives of the area from Kumasi to purposely come and register.

According to him, he notified the NDC organizer one Mohammed that the people they brought did not belong to the constituency so they should send them back to where they came from.

He indicated that the NDC organizer started pushing him violently and certain people came in and he was arrested for assaulting the organizer.

Amadu Zakaria stated that he was being detained to enable those they had smuggled in to be registered before he is released.

He has accused Deputy Energy Minister John Jinapor for organizing the busing of strangers to the constituency.
