Staff of the Electoral Commission in the Berekum West District are calling for urgent renovation of their office building to avert disaster.
EC officer in charge, Eric Owusu who made this known to Adom News said the decades old building has never been renovated and has developed cracks and has a sagging ceiling.
“All the iron rods and roofing sheet on the building are wearing off because it’s an old building" he said.
These, he said is creating fear among the staff and even residents in the district.
Owusu said though the situation is not ideal, officials have no choice but to store electoral materials in the building.
He appealed to government and non-governmental organisations to come to their aid, especially as the November 7 election approaches.
