One Shot Dead In GH₵4,000 Robbery Attack

A mate of an articulated truck with registration number 11-HL-4886 was gunned down by armed robbers in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region.

The awful incident occurred at about 2:00 am on the Bolgatanga-Navrongo road, where the vehicle was parked after developing some fault.

The vehicle is believed to have been travelling to Burkina Faso from Accra.

Narrating the incident, Police Constable Felix Agyei, said the alleged armed robbers emerged from the bush to attack the deceased, Latiff, his colleague, Francis Osei and the driver, whose name was only given as Baba.

According to him, the victims were robbed of an amount of GH₵4,000.00.

After the robbery, he added, the armed robbers asked them to lay prostrate and opened fire on them, hence the untimely demise of Latiff.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital for autopsy, whereas the driver, who survived but sustained severe injuries in the gun attack, is responding to treatment.

The alleged armed robbers are on the run after successfully embarking on the robbery expedition.

Some of the residents, who thronged the scene, expressed disquiet about the attack and called on the police to expeditiously launch full scale investigation into the issue and apprehend the notorious armed robbers to face the full rigours of the laws of the land.

They also expressed their displeasure over the escalation of robbery cases in the region.
