Ahafo Ano North Seat Likely To Fall For NPP Over Sacked Regional Minister

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) aim of retaining the Ahafo Ano North seat in the Ashanti Region, is beginning to fall on rocks, as analysis done by this paper indicates that the people are likely to vote massively against the party due to the sacking of the former Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi Mensah and the incompetence of the party’s parliamentary candidate, Akwasi Adusei.

The former Regional Minister also contested the parliamentary primaries but lost to the NDC incumbent MP due to what some of the party supporters describes as fraudulent on the act just to favour the current MP.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is now presenting a vibrant candidate who also hails from the area, well known and is likely to wrestling the seat from the NDC in the November polls.

Our research also revealed that Mr. Daniel Kofi Kyei, who is the PPP’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Suley Mahawiah and Mr. Patrick Ofori, who is the branch youth organizer and former propaganda secretary of the NDC respectively  are now major campaigners of the independent candidate who happens to be a brother-law of the NDC’s MP.

Another reason that may lead to the defeat of the party in the constituency is the breakaway of some party supporters to join other political parties in the constituency.

There was skirt in blouse in the 2012 general elections with  the NPP won presidential whilst the NDC won parliamentary with just 423 votes, but this time round, the NDC is likely lose everything to the NPP in the November 7polls, our scouts reported .

The Coordinator of the Concern NDC youth in the constituency, Yaw Awuah, who spoke with this reporter during our visit to the area stated that, the constituents were ready to vote heavily against the party due to the removal of the former Minister whom, he believed, was the best candidate to lead the party in the area ahead of the November 7 elections.

He stated that the area received massive development during Mr. Anarfi’s tenure as the Ashanti regional Minister, and that he alone could have made the NDC strong in the constituency.

According to the NDC member, it was tribalism and ethnicity, perpetuated by Akwasi Adusei who is the party’s current Member of Parliament during the primaries that made the former minister lose the NDC’s constituency primaries.

He disclosed the NPP would automatically win the parliamentary seat and also help the party win massive presidential votes in the area due to poor candidate presented by the NDC instead of the former regional minister.

He revealed that, the MP, in his campaign during the primaries mischievously propagated around the whole constituency that most of the northerners support him and that he would win the primaries and afterwards work hard to ensure that the former minister is removed from his post.

He said the minister was axed from his post just about two months after the primaries and this had infuriated some supporters of the NDC who have vowed to vote against the party in November 7.
