John Terry Sgns New One-Year Contract With Chelsea

John Terry has signed a new one-year contract with Chelsea. The 35-year-old had looked certain to be his way out of the club this summer. He revealed back in January he had not been offered fresh terms and booked a farewell party at Stamford Bridge following the final game of the Premier League season. But the Blues performed a dramatic U-turn last week, announcing they had put a one-year extension on the table for Terry.

Now the long-serving captain, who has made 703 appearances for Chelsea in his 18-year spell, has agreed to stay on for another year under incoming boss Antonio Conte. “I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I’m Chelsea through and through,” said Terry. “I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. “Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world.”

Terry is understood to have had lucrative offers on the table from mega-rich Chinese clubs. But the ex-England captain always made it clear he wanted to stay put, telling supporters he was desperate to ‘finish his career’ at Chelsea after Sunday’s season-ending draw with champions Leicester. –
