THE JOY of a newly married couple was cut short after the groom’s brother suddenly collapsed and died at the wedding reception.

Benjamin Ennin, 26, whose brother had just got married, was said to be in ecstatic mood at the merry-making event when suddenly he collapsed and died in public.

The Church of Pentecost, Pankrono branch, where the event was taking place on Saturday around 3pm, was suddenly turned into funeral ground.

Attendants of the programme, including the newly wedded couple – Grace Oduro and Collins Ennin – whose brother had died, wept uncontrollably.

There were initial reports that Collins Ennin (the groom) was the one that collapsed and died at the wedding reception, but it turned out to be a hoax.

Benjamin Ennin, according to eyewitnesses, was splendidly dressed for the occasion and he did not show any sign of illness, so his death came as a shocker.

He was said to be exchanging pleasantries with other people at the historic event when suddenly he collapsed and became motionless.

Stunned people at the event quickly rushed him to the Trinity Hospital at Pankrono, near Kumasi, to help save his life, but he was declared dead on arrival.

The assortment of food and drinks that were supposed to be distributed to people who graced the occasion was left unattended to.

Presiding Elder of the church at Pankrono, Jonas Worae, told DAILY GUIDE that Benjamin’s sudden death came as a surprise to people around.

According to him, attendants of the programme did their best to save his life by rushing him to the hospital but their efforts did not yield positive fruit.

Elder Worae described as false, initial reports that Collins groom, had collapsed and died at his own wedding reception, which went viral on social media.
