As her son Jamie was preparing to tie the knot in a storybook wedding, Lisa Vardy was seen leaving her home for another day at work.

Lisa and her husband Phil — who has raised the footballer since he was a baby — do not approve of their son's choice of wife, former nightclub promotions worker Becky Nicholson, 34. Rather than celebrate the union, the couple have chosen to stay away, along with Jamie's grandparents.

Indeed, today appeared to be little different to any other for Lisa, who looked sullen as she climbed into her car and drove off from her Sheffield home shortly after 8am this morning.
