The police in Accra have apprehended a 21-year-old man with two AK 47 assault rifles together with a locally manufactured pistol at Amasaman, near Accra.
Kwame Halo was seen with the items in a swoop conducted throughout the various division and district commands in the Greater Accra Region.
In all, about 177 suspected criminals were apprehended with various lethal weapons and other things, including machetes, knifes, laptops and some quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (wee).
When Halo was arrested, police said they discovered two pump action guns secretly hidden in his room together with the locally manufactured pistol, a knife and twelve pieces of ammunition.
He is currently in the custody of the Accra regional police command assisting in further investigations; but the 177 other suspects are in the various divisions where they were arrested, pending trial.
