U/E Minister Calls For Further Probe Into Transfer Of Teachers From BOGISS

Upper East Regional Minister, Albert Abongo has reversed the decision taken by authorities of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to transfer teachers at the centre of a sexual scandal that rocked the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School (BOGISS) a couple of months ago.

According to the Regional Minister, he needs ample time to study the "fact finding report" that found the affected teachers guilty.

It can be recalled that some students in the school were severely beaten by some female teachers for allegedly flirting with their husbands.

The issue got the parents and guardians of the students angry.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Director of Education, Madison Anane Amokase set up a committee to probe into the matter and the Committee’s report, a teacher named Alex Dewura was found culpable on the alleged sex scandal.

Two other teachers, Mbama Alia and Joyce Asabayire, were also affected for subjecting the students to various degrees of beatings.

Mr. Amokase recommended the teachers should be transferred from the school as a form of punishment.

But the Regional Minister has intervened on the issue, saying the decision was made in a hurry and so before a final decision can be taken; the Committee’s report must be well perused.
