Afotey Agbo Fingered ...In Land Scandal?

The Nii Adjetey Obuor Buor Family of Teshie in the Greater Accra region, has accused the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, and his family, (the Katamanso Family), of taking into their possession land that originally belongs to the Gbeeowo-Omlin Family.

Speaking at a Press Conference in Accra yesterday, Secretary of the of the family, Nii Noi Kpenuku IV, charged that, the Hon. Afotey Agbo supported and aided the documentation of land that was not acquired from the designated donors of the land.

The regional minister, according to him, is also using his high office to support his father, Nii Otu Akweteh IX, Chief of Kantamanso to claim their legally acquired lands for decades.

The regional minister and his father have allegedly deplored huge number of land guards to the place to drive rightful owners of the lands away, the Shippi Dudor Secretary hinted.

The said land, the Chief claimed, with the support of the regional minister has been renamed as ‘New Kantamanso’ and “has ‘turbaned’ a land guard as a chief for the area”.

Beside the Regional Minister grabbing the lands illegally for his personal use, he is also accused him of selling parcel of the land to some leading government officials who seems to be personal friends to the regional minister.

“If a whole Minister in office is employing Land guards for his family to harass legal land owners, then someone in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government should tell Ghanaians the truth of their political agenda,” the worried Chief hinted.

They are convinced that the agenda of the regional minister is not to develop peace in the region.  “The people of Gbeeowo-Omlin of Teshie will not hide our aversion of Nii Laryea Afoetey Agbo, being a ‘honorable’ when we know and see his agenda as a minister, not for the development of peace in the Greater Accra Region but to scramble and aid his royal family to usurp lands of innocent peace loving land owners” he said.

According to him, though the High Court gave a ruling on the land in favour of the Nii Adjetey Obuor Buor Family last February, Hon. Afotey Agbo and his father continues with their arrogant and illegal acts.

Nii Noi Kpenuku IV indicated that the said Gbeeowo-Omlin Lands consists Ashaley-Botwe, Sraha, Nmaidzor, Katamansu, Ashiyie and Frafraha since 1820.

He demanded the Regional Minister to release their land to them else they will “fight with the last drop of their blood in their veins” to recover them (their lands).

The Chief therefore called on President John Dramani Mahama to advise the regional minister to change from his corrupt act.
