Storekeeper Convicted For An Environmental Offence

Ernest Amoah, a 46-year-old storekeeper, was on Friday convicted to a fine of GHC 35 for committing an environmental offence by the Suhum Magistrate Court. Amoah, who pleaded guilty to unsanitary drain in his bathroom, would go to prison for six months in hard labour in default. Mr Raymond Agbodo, a Principal Environmental Officer, told the court that on September 29, environmental health inspectors on their normal rounds entered the premises of the convict and detected the offence. The court has also issued bench warrant for the arrest of five other people who committed various environmental offences but failed to attend the court
