Atlanta hairstylist Jasmine Collins is here to warn people about the dangers of braids, sew-ins, and weaves, which, when used frequently, can lead to excessive hair loss.

The owner of Razor Chic Atlanta Salon has posted various photos and videos of clients who now have little to no hair left because of various treatments.

In one heartbreaking video shared on May 26, we see a young woman with a receding hairline who wanted to let her hair “breathe” after years of relying on sew-ins, wigs, and quick weaves.

“This baby is 23 years old and suffering from severe hair loss due to braids, sew-ins, weaves, etc,” Jasmine wrote. “Just by her letting me post this will change lives across the world.”  Since then, Jasmine has posted additional videos and photos from women in similar positions, but she’s careful to note that this doesn’t mean she’s anti-weave.

“I'm not anti-weave, but you just cannot live by it on an everyday basis,” she explains. “I tell people all the time; clients are chasing styles and stylists are chasing the dollar and ain't nobody listening to the hair.” “This has to stop,' she adds. “I have no choice but to use my platform to say something about it.”

In addition to making sure her voice is heard, Jasmine is now waiving her fee to help women whose tresses have been so severely harmed by weaves and the like, and is doing her best to restore their natural locks.

Unsurprisingly, the salon owner’s dedication to helping women take care of their hair after years of severe damage is earning the award-winning stylist plenty of new clients.
