All Bills Will Be Passed Before President Is Sworn In

The leadership of Parliament has given an assurance that all the major bills currently under the Consideration Stage in the House will be passed before the end of the sixth Parliament in January next year.

Deputy majority Leader, Alfred Agbesi said although Members of Parliament would be busy with their constituency campaigns ahead of the upcoming election, they would ensure that certain key bills are passed before their tenure ends.

Mr Agbesi said bills currently under consideration in the House would be completed and passed before new bills are tabled for consideration.

Parliament for the past five weeks, spends several hours debating and amending bills such as the Right to Information Bill, Banks and Specialized Deposit Taking Institutions Bills and Ghana Geological Survey Authority Bill, among others.

The Deputy Majority Leader gave the assurance that the House would introduce new bills for consideration and approval as soon as it approved those currently before it. He said plans were in place for the House to begin sitting on Mondays in order to fast tract the workload in the House.
