DGM Officially Launch Operations In Ghana To Make Our Environment Safer

The world is filled with dangerous goods found in solid, liquid or gaseous state.

The existences of such materials are harmful to the human health and to make Ghana’s environment safer for habitat, Dangerous Goods Management Group (DGM) is initiating its tasks here.

The company operates in more than 30 countries across the world and in Africa, Ghana, joins the likes of South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya where the DGM offers management of dangerous goods.

President of the group, Michael Tesch Sanz, joined other stakeholders from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Factory Inspectorate Division, National Labour Commission and Ghana Airport Company to officially launch DGM in Ghana.

The ceremony was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra last Friday.

In an address, the president of the group stated that dangerous goods were found in all sectors of the human life including “food, pharmaceutical, aviation, oil and gas, manufacturing and healthcare”.  

He therefore called for managerial measures to be put in place for those who got into contact with such dangerous products. He expressed satisfaction over DGM’s move to operate in Ghana.

Shortly after he spoke, Mr. Dapo Omolade, the Chief Executive Officer of DGM-Ghana also had some observations to make.

He touched on how effective dangerous materials could be managed effectively without harming people who have come into contact with hazardous materials.

Mr. Eugene Darkwa Addea, represented the Ghana Standards Authority and urged business owners to maintain standards when it comes to the management of dangerous materials.

DGM provides services including Classification and Identification of DGs, Packing and repacking of shipments, Check on packaging specifications tests and criteria (UN tested packaging), Labeling and Marking of shipments, Documentation, Training, Consultancy and Software products.
