Agyepongs Betrayal Cant Impede Afokos Case Against NPP - Aide

Spokesperson for the suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, says the fight for justice to overturn the suspension is still substantive despite Kwabena Agyepong’s 'betrayal' to cease being a prosecution witness in court in the ongoing case against the NPP.

According to Nana Yaw Osei who is also a lawyer, Mr. Paul Afoko still has a case to pursue in court to knock out the decision of the NPP National Executive Committee (NEC) to suspend him [Afoko] without the presence of Kwabena Agyepong, also suspended General Secretary to be a prosecution witness.

Mr Agyepong was billed to appear in court on last Thursday as a prosecution witness for Mr Afoko but many who attended the hearing were disappointed to learn that the former had declined to attend the proceeding.

At the hearing, Mr Afoko’s lawyers told the court that Mr Agyepong had indicated he was no longer available for that purpose.

Mr Agyepong’s Spokesperson, Mujib Rahman stated emphatically in an interview with Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, that his boss never entered into any agreement with Mr Afoko to serve as a prosecution witness in his case against the NPP.

But speaking on the same platform on Tuesday, Nana Yaw Osei, spokesperson for Paul Afoko stated that Mr Agyepong’s position on the issue cannot be the truth as it is not supported by any fact.

He again mentioned that the lawyers of Mr. Afoko didn’t choose Mr. Kwabena Agyepong as a prosecution witness for nothing as the truth remains that he was deeply involved in the ongoing court case as his witness statement was already with the court since March this year.

Nana Yaw Osei revealed that Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong wrote his witness statement and signed after he had agreed to be in the witness box for cross-examination; thus, his reason to back down his earlier agreement does not interest Mr. Paul Afoko anymore as his explanation is irrelevance in the ongoing case.

Addressing the effect of Mr Agyepong’s absence in court to be a prosecution witness, Nana Yaw Osei told Kwame Nkkrumah Tikese, host of Ade Akye Abia Morning Show on Okay Fm that “the substantive case still holds against NPP despite Mr. Agyepong’s betrayal in court”.
