Notwithstanding the denial and uncertainty, Kwame Luther Adinkra, morning show host of Atinka FM in Accra, would quit his job with the Tobinco Group of Companies and return to the Ashanti Region, where he is arguably the most celebrated morning show host.
NEWS-ONE has seen a certified copy of a recent contract Kwame Adinkra personally signed with the Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) network, which shows that officially he has become an employee of EIB and is no longer with Atinka FM.
NEWS-ONE can confirm that from July, which is some two weeks away, Kwame Adinkra would be the morning radio host on Abusua 96.5 FM, a new station EIB has established in the Ashanti Region.
When news broke that Kwame Adinkra would be leaving Atinka FM to join EIB, his friends in the media publicly denied the report and said they were speaking with his consent.
They explained that the contract Adinkra signed with EIB had nothing to do with employment issues but rather a music concert.
Surprisingly, the very vocal Kwame Adinkra has remained silent on the raging speculation and controversy on whether or not he is quitting the Tobinco Group to join EIB.
The bitter reality is that until Kwame Adinkra returns to EIB to revoke his legal contract with them, his boss, Samuel Amo Tobin, Chief Executive of the Tobinco Group, has no choice but to start fishing for a new host for the Atinka FM morning show.
KUMASI COMPETITION
Kwame Adinkra was literally the ‘Larry King’ of Kumasi when he worked in the Ashanti Region as morning radio host on Angel FM.
Adinkra has not succeeded in attracting same huge following and attention to himself after he moved to Atinka FM in Accra about a year ago because it is obvious the radio audience which hailed him in Kumasi are not the same radio audience in Accra.
Indeed, Adinkra is new and relatively not known in Accra and he had a double challenge of hosting the morning show of a newly established station which was yet to capture the market.
His employers kept hopes alive and were expectant things would work out well with time. Indeed,NEWS-ONE has picked signals that Kwame Adinkra’s employers are about setting up a new station in Kumasi so that the station would be transmitting to the Ashanti Region’s audience, the morning show Kwame Adinkra hosts on Atinka FM.
It therefore comes as a bit of disappointment that even before that station starts operations, Kwame Adinkra is jumping ship to work in Kumasi; but this time, for Abusua FM which belongs to a competitor—EIB.
