Pastor Bolts with �Susu� Money

Pastor John Kwame Armah of the Ashaiman Word of Life Church is wanted by the Community 22 Police station near Michel Camp for bolting away with the savings of his church members and other clients. He went into hiding after failing to account for monies saved by clients of the Cash-Base Micro-Finance and Investment Consultancy Services. Pastor John Kwame Armah has also vacated his job as the Managing Director of the firm. He is reported to have vacated his marital home, leaving behind his wife; a situation some resident noted �was creating problems for the woman who constantly pleads with the victims.� According to one of the victims, they were excited when the pastor and some members of the church opened the Cash-Base Micro-Finance and Investment Consultancy, a loan and saving firm popularly referred to as �Susu�.Owing to the background of the operators of the firm, the victim noted, many of the members did not hesitate in the opening accounts with the company, which according to him, had some for the young men and women of the church as its staff. �A lot of us thought that the operators of micro-finance company had good plans for us, so we quickly opened the accounts and started saving with them with a view to have some sort of financial support�, he narrated. He revealed that the pastor and his colleagues later told them to double their savings to GH�2,500 in order to be able to secure lands. The aggrieved victims noted that some contributors including some female members of the church increased their savings, adding, �we were hoping to get lands at Zeenu, a suburb of Ashaiman, but little did we know that the Pastor and his people were about to run away with our monies.� When contacted, Rocky Dannie Komashie, a marketing Executive of the company, explained that some of the workers of the firm noticed some changes in the financial situation of the firm, noting �The attitude of some of the guys especially about the financial maters did not go down well with management and so they were sacked.� He told Daily Guide that in March of this year, some of them noticed delays in clients getting their monies anytime they demanded them from the firm. Asked if he knows the whereabouts of the pastor, he indicated that, even the wife of the pastor �did not even know his present location�, adding that the Police had been to his residence several times. He was alleged to have asked his staff to lie to clients that the company�s money was being held by a bank, which was working to get the lands for them.
