The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, says the President�s recent trips to the Americas and Europe, has yielded significant gains to some sectors of the economy, particularly in the areas of Agriculture, Governance and Trade. He said as part of his engagements, President Mills met with the Prime Minister of Britain, Mr. Gordon Brown and the President of the World Bank, Robert Zo�llick, to discuss primarily investment opportunities in the country and other areas which is expected to have a �ripple down mutual effect�. While away, President Mills addressed the 60th United Nations (UN) General Assembly. He later participated in the 2nd South American-African Summit together with 18 African leaders. In South America, President Mills brokered a deal with Argentina in the area of agriculture and students� exchange programme. Mills then left for New York, where he addressed the Ghanaian community, and had discussions with investors and great business magnates. Speaking on PEACEFM�s �Kokrokoo�, Hon. Mumuni reiterated government�s effort to boost the Agricultural sector, as evidenced in his meeting with the Argentine President, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, during his recent tour. �On the sidelines, His Excellency, the President had some bilaterals as you just mentioned with Argentina�agriculture was particularly targeted�and Ghana, as you know, agriculture is the bedrock of our economy and his Excellency has made a pledge to modernize agriculture to increase productivity in the sector, to use agriculture as a means to fighting poverty and achieving the MDGs,� he said. The Foreign Affairs Minister, who also touched on the prospects for the country, intimated that a lot of the country�s development partners have assured of their preparedness to invest in the nation. �Ghana is enjoying a whole lot of goodwill across the globe, people are enthusiastic about what we�ve achieve in our country�but we also recognize we have a lot of challenges and a lot of these countries are quite sympathetic and they know investing in Ghana�s democracy is a worthwhile thing, so people are really upbeat about Ghana�s prospects,� he added.
