The Police Administration will on Friday (July 1, 2016) begin assigning security detail to Flagbearers and Running mate of the various political parties ahead of the November general elections. The move forms part of security arrangements being put in place to ensure a peaceful electioneering process.

According to the Police Administration, Flagbearers and Running mates will be provide four and two personnel each respectively.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur has revealed that the selected officers assigned to the Flagbearers have already been taken through an orientation exercise.

“A number of political parties have indicated their acceptance to take advantage of the facility. One political party I’m told has gone a step ahead to pinpoint some officers to be included in their security detail. For now we think that the four police officers should be enough for the Flagbearers, in case of any situation, we are amenable to do some changes. But for now the four-two permutation should be able to do the trick.”
