Security Operative Charged With Fraud

A National Security operative has been arrested by the Madina Divisional Police Command for allegedly defrauding some persons on the pretext of helping them to buy auctioned vehicles.

The suspect, ex-Sergeant Frimpong Ampomah, in his 50s, is said to be a former soldier.

Hideout

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Madina Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Natogmah Aggrey Yakubu said Ampomah had been evading the police following reports of his dubious activities.

He said Ampomah was finally arrested for allegedly defrauding a man identified as Joy Kweku Boamah to the tune of GH¢12,000.

He said Ampomah had collected the money from his victim on the pretext of selling an auctioned Toyota Corolla car to him but he failed to deliver the car as promised.

Shortly after taking the money from Boamah, Mr Natogmah said, Ampomah went into hiding, while all calls to his mobile contact were not responded to.

He said after the police had mounted surveillance on  Ampomah, they arrested him at his hideout at Teshie Nungua in the Greater Accra Region.

During interrogation, he said Ampomah admitted collecting the money on the pretext of selling the auctioned car to the victim, but he could not give any reason why he failed to deliver the car.

Ampomah, according to Mr Natogmah, had been charged with defrauding by false pretence.

He said the police had confirmed that Ampomah was a national security operative.

He urged other persons who had fallen victim to Ampomah’s schemes to contact the Madina Police to assist with investigations.
