Parliamentary Candidate Campaigns On Improved Agriculture

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Abetifi, Mr. Bryan Acheampong, has promised to give more support to the development of agriculture in the area, if elected.

He said he would focus on the building of silos for the storage of maize produced in large quantities by the people for proper storage, to reduce post-harvest losses.

He would additionally, work hard to ensure that the small-holder farmers had access to farming inputs – fertilizers and knapsack sprayers, to boost productivity and returns.

Mr. Acheampong said this when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on his development vision for the constituency in Abetifi, the Kwahu East District capital.

He said the promotion of health and education would also be given priority attention.

He has already paid for the insurance premium of more than 600 people to be enrolled into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enjoy quality healthcare.

Mr. Achampong said he team up with parents and all stakeholders to find a way out of the growing teenage pregnancy among school girls in the constituency, which had led to high dropout rate among them.

He was currently supporting about 500 students to pursue various programmes in tertiary institutions – law, nursing teaching and other professions.

The candidate again promised to do everything to get the roads running through the area, which were in bad shape, rehabilitated.
