Mahama Will Go Into Opposition Because Of His Praise Singers - Sammy Awuku

National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku says President John Dramani Mahama will end up in opposition because of his supporters.

Sammy Awuku stated on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that the President has surrounded himself with people who only massage his ego.

According to him, those around him do not tell him the truth and so sing praises of him when Ghanaians are suffering.

“It will take some praise singers, journalists and people to massage the ego of the President to tell him that he’s doing well on the ground. He is not; that’s the truth. And President Mahama will go into opposition because of people who have failed to tell him the truth. Because, on the ground; people are suffering.”

Sammy Awuku further descended on the Electoral Commission's self-will on the issue of NHIA card registrants on the voters register.

He wondered how the EC is going to remove the names of the NHIA card registrants from the register because it's left with four months for elections to be held in November.

He asked whether the Commission is going to re-register those whose names are removed from the register before or after exhibition is done.

He also quoted some portions of CI 75, stating that the EC is supposed to give the parties an album three months before the elections are held.

This, to him, means there is not enough time on the side of the EC and so believed changing the election date shouldn't be the headache of the EC.

“It shouldn’t be your biggest headache changing date. It will only take a group of unwilling ready to do the unnecessary. Because as we sit here, how are you going to achieve the rules governing that?”
