The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has called for parents to ensure that the education of their children’s becomes their top priority.
He said they should do everything to provide all their school needs to help them to live their academic dreams.
He was speaking at the formal launch of the 60th anniversary celebration of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School (SHS) in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality.
“Sixty years of living the dreams of holistic Baptist education: its impact on human development” is the theme chosen for the event.
The year-long celebration would be climaxed with a speech and prize-giving day.
Alhaji Muntaka advised parents to cut down on frivolous spending to save more money to take care of the education of their children to assure them of a secured future.
It was also important to closely monitor their performance and to encourage them to work hard and avoid “cutting corners”.
The MP said they should be assisted to appreciate that there was no short-cuts to success.
He used the occasion to remind the teachers to become good example to the students they were teaching – they should be role models.
Mrs. Mary Owusu-Achiaw, the Ashanti Regional Education Director, applauded the SHS for its vital contribution to the nation’s human resource development.
She encouraged the students to take responsibility for their education by accepting to work hard on their books to pass their examination.
