Bawumias Integrity On The Line

The finality of the Supreme Court Case on the Voters Register has put the integrity of NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumiaon the line.

Dr Bawumia has gone undergroundsince the June 30, 2015 and his complete silence has come as a surprise especially because of how vociferous Dr Bawumia was after launching the NPP-backed diabolical agenda to discredit the Electoral Commission.

Dr Bawumia, a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, told the nation and the international community by extension that Ghana was heading for chaos because he had evidence that names of hundreds of thousands of foreigners had been secretly inserted in the voters register.

But the Supreme Court June 30, 2016 ruling which has brought finality to the case has exposed Dr Bawumia’s and NPP’s lies which raised tension in the country over the last ten months.

The party first failed to provide additional evidence of the fictitious list of 76,286 Togolese, Dr Bawumia showed the nation at a highly publicized press conference on August 18th2015.

Even though the EC panel of five that initially looked at the NPP allegation was clear in its findings, Dr Bawumia and the NPP used surrogates to file separate cases to sustain their campaign.

To avoid media critics, the NPP cunningly used pro-NPP pressure groups, Let My Vote Count Alliance, LMVCA, foot soldiers and other groups to organize demonstrations amidst threats of violence.

Public discourse changed when Abu Ramadan, a former PNC Youth Organizer decided to go to court.

Deep throat sources within the NPP revealed that, Nana Akufo Addo’s nephew, Gabby Asare Otchere -Darko, who is behind the Bawumia fiasco also tried in vain to push for validation of the voters register.

In its ruling on May 5, the Supreme Court was clear. That the EC was to remove NHIS cardholders and get them re-registered immediately in line with its guidelines.

The NPP lawyers were back in Court seeking further interpretations but the Supreme Court panel led by her Ladyship, Georgina Wood brought a finality to the case on June 30 after the EC submitted a list of 56, 772.

Dr Bawumia presented 10percent of what they had uncovered. The former Bank of Ghana Governor who wants the public to vouch for his integrity must tell Ghanaians findings on the 90percent he promised.

The 10% list he presented were from one single tribe. A dangerous exercise that was intended to pitch a section of electorates against Ewes believed to be predominantly pro-NDC.

Dr Bawumia who recklessly lined up Ewes for ridicule and prejudice, is still walking free. His action obviously was a security threat especially when he suggested the bloated register gave NDC victory in 2012.

It is public knowledge that Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko controls Dr. Bawumia on the orders of Nana Akufo-Addo. The three musketeers must know that they cannot succeed with this trade and cannot take Ghanaians for granted.

It is obvious Dr Bawumia is running away but he cannot escape. Such lies cause people to act wrongly. Such lies remain in the minds of a sizable proportion of the country who have been brainwashed to believe EC’s credibility is lost.

Such lies eventually restrict freedoms. Such lies cause injustice. Such lies are against our nation's "Freedom and Justice".

Dr Bawumia must realize that but for EC’s tact, role of security agencies in spite of the provocations, government’s posture and the Supreme Court’s intervention, the situation could have been worse.

Dr Bawumia, seeking to become the Vice President of Ghana cannot be left off the hook. He must speak, else silence would mean he has been exposed.
