The exhibition of voters register exercise began smoothly with an unimpressive turnout in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Dormaa Municipality.

All three polling stations visited by the Ghana News Agency recorded very low patronage on the first day of the exercise.

Some of the exhibition and verification officers detailed to the centres were seen dozing off behind tables, while others had temporarily vacated their posts.

As at 1200hrs, only 14 out of 450 registered voters had checked for their names at the Dormaa Senior High School Akonkondiem Polling Station ‘A”, while at same centre ‘B’, 13 out of 480 registered had checked their names.

Mr Smith Effah Owusu, the Exhibition Officer at the Polling Station, said it is premature to conclude that the exercise would witness a low turnout, stressing “this is a three-week exercise and we have just begun”.

He said it is optional for the party agents to show their presence observe the exercise and raise objections and complaints if there was any but none of them was present.

As at 1220 hrs, seven people comprising four males and three females had verified for their names and other particulars at the Saint Dominique Preparatory School Centre A.

At Centre B, Solomon Amponsah, the Exhibition Officer, said only four qualified voters had checked for their names.

He blamed the un-encouraging participation of the event to low publicity made by the organisers.

As at 1253 hrs, Mr Richard Amankwah, the Exhibition Officer, said four people comprising three female, one male out of a total of 581 voters had verified for their details in the register at the Presbyterian Primary School Centre A.

At the same Centre ‘B’, Chiraa Joyce said 12 voters made up of nine males and three females had verified for their names and other particulars out of a total of 579 registered voters.
