The Funko Beach, which was developed ten years ago as a tourist attraction and recreational center, is gradually losing its intended purpose and beauty. The beach has currently been turned into a haven �defecation centre,� with its accompanying stench, and this has resulted in scaring away tourists who come to the beach for recreational activities. When this file visited the beach, it discovered a nauseating and uncomfortable situation, where both male and female residents of Funko, a fishing community in the Ahanta West District, line up to defacate along the beach. This nauseating situation, according to information, has been going on for the last ten years, and several attempts made to stop the recalcitrant residents from that act, has proved futile. Both the male and female residents have separate places along the beach, where they lined up to defecate on a daily basis. What is even more worrying, is that just close to the beach where the residents defecate, is a resort called Funko Beach Resort. The resort, which was developed in 1996, has been behind the success story of the development of the Funko town. The establishment of the resort saw the sourcing of electricity and pipe borne water to the town. Afterwards, a number of hotels and other guest houses have sprung up in the area.
