Setting Up Commission of Enquiry Not Enough To Addressing Conflicts - Bombande

The Deputy Minister Designate for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Emmanuel Bombande has said resort to setting up Commissions of Enquiry into conflicts such as chieftaincy conflicts, is not enough to addressing such conflicts.

He emphasized the need to consider the transformative nature of the conflicts and make the parties involved such conflicts appreciate the need for peaceful co-existence as efforts are made to address the conflict.

Mr Bombande former Executive Director of WANEP made the observations during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament today.

Responding to questions on how the Boko Haram conflict in Nigeria and Youth unemployment could be effectively addressed, he said the root causes of violent extremism must be identified and quickly prevented.

He said youth unemployment could be a source of conflicts hence the need to create employment opportunities for the youth to help them live in dignity.

Responding to a question on his membership of the NDC, he explained that he is not a card-bearing member of the party but believes in social democracy.

Other nominees who also appeared before the committee for vetting are; Hon Oti Bless MP for Nkwanta North and Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development and Mr Joseph Agmor Tetteh, Deputy Minister for the Eastern region.
