Swansea boss hoping to keep Andre Ayew

The Black Stars midfielder has been a transfer target for several clubs but his boss wants him around for the upcoming season.

Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin says it would be in the club's best interest to keep Ghana's Andre Ayew, following reports he might depart from Liberty Stadium during the ongoing transfer window.

The 26-year-old finished as the club's top scorer with 12 goals last season, and has been under the radar of top sides like Sunderland and Liverpool.

"Andre [Ayew] is a good guy and a good player, I hope he stays with us but I don't know," Guidolin told BBC Wales Sports.

"It is important to keep him, but it is not my job. My job is to train and to get the team to play well and to get good results. I am confident he will stay," he added.

Guidolin also hailed the arrival American businessmen Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan, who lead a consortium that now owns a 60 per cent stake of the club.

"The takeover is good, the new owners are with us and I am happy. I hope to see something in the coming weeks."

Ayew joined Swansea from French giants Olympique Marseille as a free agent last season.
