Atta Mills Did Not Understand Why There Was Scramble For Riches - Koku Anyidoho

Aide to late former President John Evans Atta Mills says he has no regrets working for the “selfless leader”.

According to Koku Anyidoho, the late President taught him to be selfless and seek for good name rather than riches.

He revealed this in an interview on Asempa FM Monday while discussing activities to commemorate the 4th anniversary of Professor Mills who died in office on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital.

As part of activities, President John Mahama will today inaugurate “The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Library” at the Chapel Square in Cape Coast in the Central region. It will be followed by a lecture the former President of Malawi, Joyce Banda.

Eulogizing the late President, Koku Anyidoho said he is yet to meet such a humble and selfless leader in Ghana’s body politic.

“Prof Mills was a statesman, a teacher, a father and a friend. He did not understand why there was scramble for riches when we will not take it to the grave” he stated.

Mr. Anyidoho who is now the deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) underscored the need for politicize to emulate the late Atta Mills to leave a better legacy for posterity.

“Prof Mills had all the power but could not prevent death so the jealousy and envy in our politics just to enrich ourselves is needless because we will not take them to our grave” he stressed.
