Bongo PPP Parliamentary Candidate Calls For Support From NDC Disgruntled Youth

The parliamentary candidate for the Progressive People's Party, PPP, in the Bongo Constituency, George Afari, has appealed to all disappointed National Democratic Congress, NDC sympathisers to throw their weight behind him in the December 7 polls.

He says he is optimistic of alleviating the numerous problems facing the constituents in many areas of national life and prays them to use the forthcoming general elections to test his zeal.

Mr. Afari made this appeal when he met with the leadership and some members of the Bongo Constituency NDC 'Lai Lai' Group at Bongo in the Upper East Region to seal the deal. The meeting was attended by over 500 members of the Lai Lai group.
Mr. Afari said he knew for sure he would win the parliamentary poll in the constituency should the NDC sympathisers rallied behind him.

The Bongo NDC Lai Lai Group is formed by some disgruntled youth who are up in arms against the party's parliamentary candidate, Edward Bawa, following some internal wranglings in the party's fraternity.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Afari said he was not riding on the internal confusion in the Bongo NDC to succeed in his parliamentary bid, but his call was borne out of his commitment to unite all the youth and everybody in the Bongo Constituency to work together to mass up development projects for the area.

He stressed it was about time the constituents halted voting for parliamentary aspirants based on party lines, but should rather look for someone who was diligent, creative, hard working, and could lead the constituency to attain its desired progress.

He further pointed out he would resolve to relieve the people from their continuously worsening socio-economic plight if he was given the nod.

"I know my flag bearer, Paa Kwesi Nduom and what he is capable of doing for Bongo and for that matter mother Ghana if voted into power. I'm begging of you(the NDC sympathisers) to change your voting pattern and consider voting for me and the PPP", he appealed.

He mentioned poor road network, high unemployment rate, poor educational facilities, inadequate water, among others as some of the challenges facing the people of Bongo.

The Secretary of the Bongo NDC Lai Lai group, Francis Aloyagle, in an interview with Peace news on sidelines, said the group would soon hold a crunch meeting to decide on whether to support him(Mr. Afari, the PPP parliamentary aspirant) or opt for Gabriel Agana, who was vying for the seat on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party, NPP.

He, therefore, stated emphatically the group was still loyal to the NDC and would vote massively for president John Dramani Mahama to enable him secure a second term.
