Mrs. Sophia Duker, Proprietress of Adjiriganor Otano Learning Skills Centre, on Thursday called for the establishment of more of such centres to enhance and sharpen the skills of children.
Children with such skills end up well equipped to face all the educational challenges in their communities, she added.
Mrs Duker made the call when officials of Ghana Education Service (GES) visited the school at Adjiriganor Otano, a suburb of Accra.
She said the centre was to ensure the upbringing of responsible and valuable citizens in society and appealed to the government and non- governmental organisations to support the venture to achieve its aims.
Mrs Duker said the Parent-Teacher Association of the school had provided computers, printers and a television set to the school and appealed to public spirited individuals and organisations to assist the venture.
She explained that the establishment of the centre was to complement governments efforts to ensure quality pre-education to children.
The first centre was established at Ring Road East Estate in Accra in 1985.
Mr Charles Parker-Allotey, Director of Public Relations of the GES, commended the school authorities for the good work.
The school has 213 children.
