UPP To Give Priority To The Private Sector

The United Progressive Party (UPP) has pledged to take far-reaching measures to grow the private sector, if voted to power.

Mr. Akwasi Addae (Odike), the Presidential Candidate, said his government would do everything to ensure that the sector became the main pillar supporting the nation’s economy.

Indigenous businesses would have access funds and aided to optimally operate, he stated, at the official launch of the party’s manifesto in Kumasi

That, he indicated, was the way to go, to provide enduring solution to the rising joblessness, create wealth for the people and make things better for everybody.

Mr. Addae gave the assurance that there was going to be efficient management of the country’s resources under his watch, to turn the economy around.

He set an ambitious target of growing the economy by 20 per cent, annually.

“Sustainability and predictability of the Cedi will be the hallmark of UPP government”, he added.

He hinted of a review of the existing investment laws and the Ghana Free Zone Act.

He said this was necessary to make Ghanaian business operators the key actors at all levels of the economy.

On agriculture, Mr. Addae said farmers would see massive transformation – mechanization and construction of irrigation facilities for all-year-round food production and export.

He used the occasion to formally introduce his running mate, Mr. Yaw Brogya Mensah, a business man.
