Prez Mills: Institute Enquiry Into Kofi Boakyes Conduct

President John Evans Atta Mills has, on the advice of the Police Service Council, asked the Ghana Police Service to recall from leave former Police Director of Operations, ACP Kofi Boakye, and institute a service enquiry into his conduct. A statement issued by the Ministry of Information said the Council took note of the findings of the Georgina Wood Committee of 2006 as they related to ACP Kofi Boakye. These include abuse of office, corruption, professional misconduct and unsatisfactory service. The decision that the Police Service sets up a Service Enquiry is to help the Service enquire into the conduct of ACP Kofi Boakye as contained in the Georgina Wood Committee Report, which adversely affects the image and integrity of the Police Service and the country as a whole, the statement said. It said the process was to ensure transparency and due process of law in conformity with the Police Service Act 350 of 1970 and the Police Service (Disciplinary) Regulations 1974, L.I. 993.
