Court Jails Taxi Driver For Stealing

The Winneba Magistrate Court, has sentenced a taxi driver to 18 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing an iphone 6, valued at GH₵ 2,200.

Issah Moro pleaded guilty.

Prosecution Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae that the complainant is a businessman who resides at Low Cost Winneba, while the convict in charge of a taxi with registration Number GN6434-14 resides at Winneba Junction.

The prosecution said on June 17, at about 1500 hours the complainant engaged the service of the convict to send him from Windy Lodge Hotel to Town Hall and send his brother who was in the car to Low Cost.

While alighting from the taxi the complainant forgot to take his phone along.

The convict was arrested and during investigation, he admitted having stolen the said phone and sold it at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra for GH₵20.
