Besiktas agree to sign Gyan on loan

The Black Stars skipper is on his way out of China following weeks of frustrations after being sidelined due to injuries.

Turkish champions Besiktas have agreed to sign Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan on loan until the end of the season from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, Goal understands.

The 30-year-old striker has fallen down the pecking order in Sven-Goran Erikkson's squad after the arrival of Brazilian Hulk in June, and reports suggest he was even dropped to train with the reserve team.

He scored only seven goals in 20 appearances for SIPG in two seasons.

Agent of Gyan is reported to have met with Besiktas chairman Fikret Orman over the weekend, to discuss a deal to bring the striker to Turkey.

It is understood that Beskitas manager Senol Gunes was impressed with the availability of Gyan and have assured him of playing time as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming Uefa Champions League.

Gyan was previously linked with a move back to England, with Chelsea and West Ham United leading the race for his trophy.

He is expected to land in Istanbul this week for his medical.
