As far back as October 9, 2014, R&E Group Concrete was granted the Right of Entry to the land by Management of St. John’s Grammar, to commence work of producing concrete on portions of the school land.

The establishment of the firm in the vicinity has triggered several confrontations between authorities of the school and the Ga West Municipal Assembly as well as the residents who considered the work of R&E Group Concrete as one that could be hazardous to their health.

But last Saturday, most of the residents who were allowed to tour the R&E Group Concrete facility immediately erased the misconception they had held concerning the operations of the company.

In an interview with some of the residents who took part in the tour, they expressed satisfaction at the state of the heart facility the R&E Group had set up in the neighbourhood.

Aside this, one resident by name Nana Ofori explained that “this is a company who have settled in the community and is delivering on its promise of building bridges and gutters for the community.” “The equipment they use doesn’t make noise as we perceived at first”, he added.

Another resident stated that “they haven’t come to pollute our environment. They have even created jobs for people in the community and we can no longer encourage people with selfish interest to destroy their work. it wouldn’t help any of us.”

In a separate interview with Mr. Kennedy Amoako, the Accountant and External Relatons Manager of R&E Group Concrete, he noted that their only challenge since commencing business in the vicinity had to do with the misconception some residents held about their operations.

“Some of the residents said we were coming to produce cement and use chemical that can kill them early. Some also complained about noise making and brought court summons to us. We later visited their homes to talk to them on one on one basis, it thorugh this that we realized that majority of them were really happy with our settlement in the area”, Mr. Amoako said.
