Asylum Down Presby YPG is 15 years

The Young People's Guild (YPG) of the Asylum Down Presbyterian Church on Sunday organized a thanksgiving service to climax the group's 15th anniversary celebrations. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Guild organized a week-long programme including a clean-up campaign, a forum to discuss church doctrine, and a debate on teenage pregnancy. Ms Hannah Asomaning, member of the group, who gave a sermon on the theme: "Let us Rise and Build: Prayer Initiates the Vision's Fulfillment," advised Christians to believe in the power of prayers and trust in God solely for solutions to their problems. She said Christians should endeavour to have a positive impact on the lives of others in their families, society, community, and especially in their churches. "Let us rise and build, we all have a part to play as God has given each of us talents for the benefit of mankind and we must make good use of it," she said. Ms Asomaning said Christians could only experience fulfilment when they depended solely on God and communicated their problems to God through prayers. She challenged Christians to test the power of prayers by engaging in prayer and by convening meetings to participate in intercessory prayers consistently for themselves, their church and the nation as a whole. "God answers prayers, God hears you when you pray, so believe in your prayers," she said. Ms Cecelia Nkum, Secretary to the Group, said the YPG was a generational group for people between the ages of 18 and 30, committed to the love of God and prepared to live responsible lives. She urged the youth to join the group and help make positive impacts in national development.
