Nollywood's Funke Akindele Turns 40 Years Today

Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele better known as Jenifa is a year older today and she has been basking in that euphoria.

"Thank you Lord for another year on earth. It's been you oh Lord! Thank you for making me a force to reckon with. You alone are worthy of all the praises. Happy Birthday to me", she wrote on Instagram.

Funke became famous after featuring in popular United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sponsored sitcom, I Need To Know.

She played Bisi, a curious but highly intelligent secondary school student.

The sitcom ran for 4 years, 1998 to 2001.

Funke studied mass communication in the former Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.

The talented actress is also a graduate of Law from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba.

Funke was married to Kenny Almaroof Oloyede between May 2012 and July 2013.

Their courtship, marriage and subsequent divorce were not devoid of controversy.

Funke’s mum is a medical doctor while her father is a retired school principal.

Funke has two sisters and one bother. She is the second child.

She is currently dating JJC Skillz, a London based Nigerian artiste.

Funke has won many awards for acting and producing. In 2009, she won the African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Other awards include: AfroHollywood Awards for Best Supporting Actress; Future Awards – Best Actress; Dynamix Awards – Best Actress; City People – Best Actress; City People – Best Movie of the Year for Jenifa, among others.
