I Will Endorse A Political Party If It�s A Good Deal � Edem

In an interview with Viasat 1 TV’s Breakfast show, This Morning, the rapper said, “No political party has approached me for any form of endorsement but I will accept if it is a good deal”

Edem, born Denning Edem Hotor , first entered the music industry in 2009 with his widely successful debut Volta Regime. He followed it up with Mass Production in 2011. He recently announced a new album Books and Rhymes.

His music style is a fusion of hip-hop to dancehall, reggae, and hi- life. His record boasts of hit songs like Ghetto Arise, Heyba, Bougez, Bra fremi fremi, Nyedzilo, Kpordawoe, and Koene, and they have made him among some of the country’s most sought after artists.

Ghanaian celebrities have been endorsing political parties since 2008. Celebrities such as A Plus, Bulldog, Kwabena Kwabena, Daddy Lumba, John Dumelo, MzBel, have been associated with either of the major political parties in Ghana.

All over the world, celebrities have been seen to endorse parties and political personalities. Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, John Legend, are among the numerous American icons who have been seen on a political platform.

There are varying opinions as to whether or not it affect’s the celebrity’s image in the long-run as there is the fear that they might lose a significant number of fans who don’t support their icon’s political party of choice.
