The Ghana international could regain fitness next month, several weeks before his expected comeback.
West Ham United forward Andre Ayew could be set for a dramatic injury return next month, weeks earlier than his anticipated due time of November/December, the club have disclosed.
The Ghanaian suffered a hamstring injury on his Hammers debut in August, lasting only 35 minutes in a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Immediate medical examination revealed that the 26-year-old would return in December, a date which was later brought forward to November until the latest development.
"Our Club record signing Andre Ayew is also a great signing," West Ham joint-chairman David Sullivan told the club's official website.
"We are just unlucky with his injury.
"He is a player that is never usually injured, but he is progressing very well.
"We hope he might be back sometime in October or early November, a lot earlier than was initially anticipated."
Should Ayew make the extraordinary comeback next month, he could be available for Ghana's crunch 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier with Egypt on November 7.
The former Marseille man joined West Ham on a three-year deal worth £20.5 million after netting 12 times in 34 league appearances for Swansea last season.
